PN5 The Black Cave

Chera
Map

Interpretive itinerary of the Chera-Sot de Chera Natural Park We start the route from the fountain of the neighbouring quarter to the town centre of Chera. Entering the Barranco del Agua, where the first half of the route runs, we will cross the Selveta. Further on we can refresh ourselves with the waters of the Gabriel and Gorda fountains. Climbing up the path we can contemplate the curious shapes of the dolomites of the Enchanted City Formation that we can see in the highest part of the itinerary. On the way down to the village we will find refuge in the Cueva Negra corral, a shelter that shepherds used to protect their livestock from the weather. Its black colour is due to the soot, witness of the bonfires made by multiple generations of shepherds to fight the cold.
