A few kilometres from the Contreras reservoir, on the border with Cuenca, stands Villargordo del Cabriel, taking its name from the river that offered the Iberians and Romans a fertile place to settle. The narrow streets of the old town speak of the town's Arab origins. In the 18th century, the parish church of San Roque, patron saint of the town, was built.

natural environment is perfect for hiking and cycling routes, and will allow you to discover such interesting places as the trenches of the civil war, the Telegraph and the salt mines. The best views over the river Cabriel, from the Mirador de la Peña Blanca and Pico Moluengo.

The patron saint festival in honour of San Roque is held in August. As in other towns, Villargordo del Cabriel celebrates San Antón in January and San Isidro Labrador in May, always accompanied by music. In July, the Cultural Week.
